The 0.2 alpha release of Tekla, the input method that enables access to most Android functions and applications by means of remote switches (particularly those in powered wheelchairs) is now available on the Android Market.
This version incorporates significant enhancements to the on-screen keyboard, the switch scan highlight, and the stability of connections to Tekla Shields. An example of the latter is the auto-reconnect feature that allows the phone to automatically scan for, and re-connect to, the last known Tekla Shield. That way, if the App or the Shield hiccup and loose connection to each other, users will just need to wait a few seconds to regain control preventing being locked out of the phone!
It is also important to remember that Tekla is for everyone (not just switch users) so features like enhanced highlighting should improve on the experience of direct touch users as well. Download Tekla today from the Android Market and tell us what you think!
